This is unquestionably the single most useful machine that we own. It allows us to dowel approximately 1000 squares in about 2 hours or so. It would take us 8 hours to round 100 squares using the old fashion method. Don't misunderstand us as there is nothing wrong with using the traditional method of turning squares round. It's just not practical for us when turning so many squares round. Plus it allows us to do all doweling in one period so all the wood can be hung at the same time. We can maintain better control over it using this method. We get wood in the form of lumber and then rip and dowel it. Doing it this way, we can better control it in stages. We don't rely upon anyone but ourselves when it comes to our fine exotic and shaft woods. We've had a lot of inquiries about this machine. It is an import and runs on 3 phase electric. There is a single phase model but you don't want it for doing doweling. The machine retails for anywhere from $3700 to $4400 depending on the source. If you don't have 3 phase power, you'd need a phase converter (cost $500+ the electrician).
